By road from the north, via Chester and Wrexham, we are 18 miles south of Bala.

From the south using the A470 or from England joining the M54 from the motorway network at Telford – Shrewsbury - Welshpool – Dolgellau.

Directions to Trem Idris:

If you are travelling north along the A470 towards Porthmadog / Betws-y-coed (avoiding Dolgellau), the A470 will lead you into the village of Llanelltyd (2 miles past Dolgellau). At the roundabout turn left onto the A496 to Barmouth. Pass the school on the left – hand side and further along on the right – hand side you will see a B&B sign, follow the drive up.

If you reach the sign for Penmaenpool toll-bridge you have gone too far!!

From the east follow the signs to Bala along the A494, continue until you get to the Dolgellau bypass - the A470 - turn right and follow the signs for Porthmadog / Betws-y-coed continue as for directions travelling north.
